2025 Mazda CX-70 Receives Double Recognition from AJAC

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada has selected the 2025 Mazda CX-70 lineup for recognition in two prestigious categories at the Montreal AutoShow. The CX-70 Mild Hybrid with its Inline 6 Turbo powerplant earned a spot among the best Canadian Utility Vehicles of the Year, while the CX-70 PHEV achieved recognition in the Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle category, showcasing Mazda's advancement in electrified vehicle technology.

Mazda's largest two-row crossover demonstrates exceptional capability with 5,000 pounds of towing capacity and purposefully designed cargo space. The CX-70 offers three distinct electrified powertrains, including two variants of the e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo featuring 48-volt M-Hybrid Boost technology, alongside an advanced e-Skyactiv PHEV system. Each powertrain works in harmony with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive.

Advanced Technology and Safety Features

The 2025 CX-70 introduces Amazon Alexa built-in functionality, enabling voice-controlled operation of various vehicle features while minimizing driver distraction. This premium SUV also debuts Mazda's Private eCall emergency system and Stolen Vehicle Assistance, providing enhanced security during everyday drives and long-distance adventures. Additional standard equipment includes wireless phone charging capability and a premium Bose audio system, creating an environment that balances connectivity with comfort.

Performance and Driving Dynamics

Mazda's engineering team has equipped the CX-70 with the sophisticated Mi-Drive system, offering tailored driving modes for various conditions. Drivers can select between Normal, Sport, Off-Road, and Towing modes, with PHEV models adding a dedicated EV mode. This adaptability allows the CX-70 to maintain optimal performance across diverse Canadian driving conditions, from urban commutes to weekend adventures.

Premium Features and Value Proposition

The 2025 CX-70 MHEV starts at $49,750, delivering a comprehensive package of premium features, advanced safety systems, and refined performance. The CX-70 PHEV begins at $58,750, combining the benefits of electric mobility with Mazda's signature driving dynamics. Both models showcase Mazda's evolving design language while providing practical functionality for active lifestyles.

Both CX-70 variants remain on display at the Montreal AutoShow through January 26, 2025, where automotive enthusiasts can experience their capabilities firsthand. The final category winners will be announced at the Canadian International AutoShow's Canadian Car of the Year Awards presentation on February 13, 2025.
